Superhero Awesome Guy

Tyler has a favourite praise and worship song at the moment that he likes to listen to in the car 'Our God is an Awesome God'.  The other day while driving along listening to his tune, he said to me 'You know mummy Spiderman is a really awesome guy too' Yes Tyler he really is a really awesome guy too!

Toilet Training joys....

So the toilet training of my baby E has begun...now I didn't dread this day as T trained in about 3 days and rarely had an accident after he was fully toilet trained. E has proved to be a different one altogether. I have actually been holding her off TT as she has been asking to use the toilet for the longest time but it has been too cold....so here we are toilet training, she has FABULOUS days with no accidents and then days of peeing and pooping 7 pairs of nickers in 2 hours....what the? Oh well I will go on...she is so independent taking herself to the toilet, then trying to empty her own potty, including flushing it down the toilet. Although I wasn't too impressed her her independence when I found her making a cake in her potty with milk from her cup and then attempting to drink it.....ewwwwha

Nice and Cosy

Since it has been cold lately Eva has been only sleeping for a shorter period during the day and waking earlier in the mornings.
SOLUTION - add a cosy pillow and doona to her bare cot (she sleeps in a sleeping bag) and like magic she sleeps delightfully in her 'nice and cosy bed' (as she calls it)

When you grow up

Tyler: Daddy when you grow up will you have a big car like Papa (who drives a 4x4 Pajero, while daddy drive a small hatchback)
Daddy: Why do you think I will drive a car like Papa's when I grow up?
Tyler: Daddy because Papa is bigger than you so he has a bigger car!!! (dah daddy)

Superheros

Yesterday Tyler wanted to wear his undies over his pants (to go out) so he could be a superhero, I kindly told him maybe not to go out but you are welcome to do the superhero thing at home. Then later on in the day while I was getting ready to go out with the girls for the evening, I was dressing and Tyler came in while I was putting on stocking (and I always wear another pair of undies over the top to stop them sliding down) Tyler looking very excited asked if was going to go to the movies dressed like a superhero? Hmmm I don't think so, he was pretty disappointed.

The joy of laughing.... (at the simple things)

We have realised that 21 month old Eva is blessed with a great sense of humour. She actually get a joke when someone is joking around with her. Today while driving (my stories always seem to occur while driving) Eva started laughing to herself in the back of the car, i turned to her and said 'What's so funny Missy Moo' and she pointed towards a overhead electrical wire and said 'There's a shoe up there' and laughed again... how could she know that this is a silly place for a shoe

First Day

Well yesterday my 21 month old baby girl Eva started her first ever day of kindy as I started back at work this week. Now I was having a bit of a stress thinking she wouldn't cope as she is such a mummy's girl. Well can you believe she was perfectly happy, she had the time of her life playing with other little girls and making house in home-corner. Zane said when he picked the children up, she barely acknowledged him and continued on playing, then in the car ride home she was amped and chatty....I think she had a good day. Now she is only going one day a week so it will be interesting to see what happens when I drop Tyler off today to see if she is disappointed that this little 'Miss Social Butterfly' won't be able to stay and play.

Getting Old

We drive past a cemetery almost every day and 4 year old Tyler ALWAYS says "Are all those flowers over there because people got married" Hmmm and every time I try (in an age appropriate way) to explain that the flowers are there because people want to remember and let people know they are loved. Today when the questions started again I tried to explain to him that it is a place where people who have died can be remembered with flowers by those who love them. This started a very interesting conversation about death and ageing. I always try to give Tyler age appropriate honesty....I hope I succeeded.

The conversation went a little like this...
Tyler" When I die will I become something else"
Me "What do you mean"
Tyler "You know like a car, I'd like to be a car"
Me " Ummm no you won't ever be a car'
Tyler "What will I be"
Me "Ummm (Thinking oh crap) You will still be you, you will just be in heaven with Jesus"
Tyler "Will I be a better me, like a really healthy one"
Me "I think you will"
Tyler "I don't want to get old, are Nana and Pa old"
Me "No, they are still young (ish)
Tyler "What will I look like when I get old"
Me " Well I guess a bit like daddy" (Tyler looks ALOT like his daddy)
Tyler (with a laugh) "Will I get hair all over me like daddy"
Me "Probably"
Tyler (still chuckling and processing) "like all OVER me like on my face too"
Me "Yes Tyler:
Tyler "That's funny"

Wow I am glad that conversation ended upbeat

Marriage

Four year old Tyler has lately been talking about love and all things marriage. First he wanted to marry his little friend at kindy until she declined his invitation. Then he decided that mummy was 'the one' he wanted to marry, but was very sad when daddy told him he couldn't marry mummy as she was already married to daddy. While shopping at ikea Tyler said to me "Mummy I wish I got to marry you first, before Daddy"

Smelly moments

Early this morning 4 year old Tyler came into our room and wanted to hop into bed with us, after he hopped in it felt pretty tight in our bed so Zane decided to go and sleep in Tyler's bed until it was time to get up. he said to Tyler 'You sleep on my side and give mummy more room, I am going to go sleep in your bed' to which Tyler responded 'Don't wreck my stuff Daddy' Zane said 'No I won't touch your stuff I'm just going to sleep in your bed' and Tyler said 'Well don't make my stuff smelly, cause my bed smells nice' I don't think Tyler is looking forward to smelling like a boy!

What do you do when it is hot?

Tyler and I were talking today about how it is just socially not acceptable to poke your tongue out at someone.
I think he understood the concept of people feeling hurt if you poke your tongue out but somehow Tyler (as usual) found another use for his tongue...he told me he would only poke his tongue out when he was hot. So I guess he thinks he's a dog.

For all the Dare Devils...

While packing the car to go away this week-end, 20 month old Eva was playing around next to me safely....until my fearless child got her toddler bike, popped herself on and rode down our very very steep driveway right onto a busy road.

The little dare-devil scooped her feet off the ground and let gravity speed her down the hill right into the middle of the road, with me (mummy) running faster than I have in a long time and screaming so loud everyone on the street heard me. Eva managed (God only knows how) to turn the trike to a stop smack bang in the middle of the road and thank God there were no cars or buses travelling up the road at the same time. To my utter fear Eva was completely fearless about her little adventure and me I am still recovering.

Taking sides....

20 month old Evahas a new phrase she likes to utter when things are not going her way. When I (mummy) do something that displeases her (ie - being put down for her nap when she clearly doesn't want one) Eva yells from her cot 'I want to talk to daddy'
It continues on to daddy telling her to hop out of the kitchen and tries to explain to her why to which she shuts him down with 'I want to talk to mummy' ouch...
While putting her down for her day nap today after a playdate, I commented to Evathat her room was a mess and Eva promptly told me 'daddy mess, daddy mess'
Poor daddy gets the blame for all the mess!!!

Mr Strong

Tyler 'Mum I want to be strong, you know like lift TV's strong'
Mummy 'You want to be strong and lift TV's'
Tyler 'Mmm you know like when Daddy moved the TV the other night'
Now he is walking around lifting things and huffy like he is really strong. Cute one.

Naked Ambition

Early this morning while the suburbs were quiet, I ducked out of the house to grab something quickly from the garage (which doesn't have internal access) as I was just about to re-enter the house, the self locking front door closed on me or should I say was closed for me with the aid of 1 year old Eva..... Oh joy I am thinking until I realise hubby is in the shower and I am in my undies!!!!!! Lucky my loud frantic door knocking sprang 4 year old Tyler to my rescue before any of the neighbours saw me in my undies.

Rewards

Recently we started a 'Rewards Chart' for Tyler for good behaviour, manners and the like. Now I knew that he would respond to rewards so had confidence that the system would work... I didn't however count on it working so well. Tyler this afternoon created a 'Rewards Chart' with stickers included for mummy... so now I am being rewarded on how good a mummy I am {or not}. I had best be on my best mummy behaviour.

Tyler " Mummy I rescued two girls at kindy the other day from a spider"
Mummy "Really, what did you do?"
Tyler " I threw a toy at the big spider and he went Hrsh"
Mummy " Wow that was very brave"
Tyler " I know, I think I must be a hero"
Mummy " I think you might be"

Beatbox Boy

12 April 2010: Driving in the car this morning while listening to Tyler's funky kids Cd Tyler says to me "Mummy can you wind the window down so everyone can hear my music" I had visions of my son 15 years from now doing laps in Surfers Paradise with his car stereo blaring .... oh please no!!!!!

This is the story.....

of Tyler and Eva and the humorous, touching and wonderful things my children say and do

so read on and enjoy here are some old ones...

29th March 2010: After waking from his day nap Tyler quietly came out with his hand on his chest and said in a very amazed way "Mummy my heart is moving, I can feel it, I think it is saying hello to me"

22nd March 2010: With visitors Dana and Marcus at our house... Dana try to cox Tyler to calling marcus ..Mucus. Dana "That is Marcus but you can call him Mucus, thats what his mum and dad call him" Tyler 'Why do his mum and dada call him mucus" Dana"Because his parents don't like him" Tyler " Does that make his heart sad"
Dana " Oh you can call him Marcus"
That will teach you to be mean to your hubby Dana!!!!

12th March 2010: Tyler on the way to kindy this morning "Mummy I don't like boys {pause} my heart comes out when I see pretty girls" he is only 4 come on !!!!!

4th March 2010: Tyler: "When I put my head down my bottom hurts"
Mummy: "Why"
Tyler " Because my brain hurts"
Mummy " Ooooo----K"

22 February 2010 : Yet another one while driving in the car after picking Tyler up from JJ's (Jess's) house, Tyler says to me " JJ gave me adult juice" curious I say " Oh really what was it" and Tyler replies quite proudly " I had spicy juice with chlorine in it" After laughing then calling Jess to find out about this curious adult drink, I find out he had sparkling mineral water. Guess pool water and mineral water must have a similar taste.

17 February 2010 : Today while driving in the car Tyler says to me "Mummy.. when you and Daddy are not around to tell me not to be naughty, superheros help me to be good"

20 September 2009 : While watching Tony Hawk skateboarding, Tyler looking in awe commented to me ' Oooh Mummy I can't do that on my skateboard... why can't I do those tricks' I said maybe when you get bigger you will be able to do those tricks and he replied 'Yeah when I'm big like daddy' (pause) then ' can daddy do those tricks' Much to live up to Zane ;)
